We will go over the isomers for C6 and then You worked on a pair assignment on C7 and C8 isomers....draw the structure and give the name(your stucture will be drawn as a condensed structure where C-H bonds are understood..see p 696) Hwk: p 701 7 to 12
Friday April 25 We will go over the answers to sheet 1 on alkanes then . You worked on finishing the pair assignment on C7 and C8 isomers..
Assignment for Monday May 5....here is the info...
You received a graphing assignment .(see the reverse of the handout that you received for this unit) this is due next monday may 5. you will likely find it helpful to graph 15 points or so, then recheck for areas that you need more points. It is not necessary to plot every last data point. The y axis is pH and the x axid is Volume. The last question requires you to do some research about titration curves. Check your sources online or in texts.
Monday April 28- We went over alkenes and alkynes. The assigned homework was sheet 2 from the handout. Do not worry about cis or trans at this point.
Most students passed in the 9 isomers of heptane and the 18 isomers of octane. If you didn't, this must be passed in at the start of wednesday's class.
Tuesday April 29-We completed the work on alkenes and alkynes. You had an introduction to cis and trans geometric isomers. Go back to sheet two and fix the names of those that are cis and trans isomers and do p 703 13 to 17 p 707 22,25
Wednesday April 30- You were introduced to aromatics today . This family requires a lot of study. We also checked over sheet 2 and a homework check was done. You were assigned sheet three to practise simple aromatics and cycloalkanes.
Thursday May 1- Today we completed aromatics. You learned about ortho, meta and para isomers of aromatics. I assigned p 711 #26 to 29 and sheet 3 go back and name some of the ones who have more than one name, for example those that have ortho meta or para. Please recheck sheet 3 to make sure that the names are complete.
